Lent.......to drink or not to drink

Lent is a forty-day period before Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday. We skip Sundays when we count the forty days, because Sundays commemorate the Resurrection. Lent begins on 17 February 2010 and ends on 3 April 2010, which is the day before Easter.

In the Roman Catholic Church, Lent officially ends at sundown on 1 April (Holy Thursday), with the beginning of the mass of the Lord’s Supper. - Taken from http://www.kencollins.com/holy-04.htm

So for Lent this year I have decided to giveup all liquid except for water. I have to say after having this lil' stomach bug, its working out nicely. I'm not super close to God but I'm trying. After reading St. Teresa of Avila's biography, I connected with what it was she was feeling. The Guilt. I pray to god every morning on my way to work. I pray for my families health and wellness along with Joes. I pray for patience, strength and motivation and have the faith that God will help me become a better person. I have my own relationship with God. But I feel guilty because I know that he answers my prayers when he sees fit and if he doesn't it's because he has a plan.

Just like Garth Brooks song " Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers" It took me along time to realize how true those words are. But to me they ring true. I don't want to go on and on, because I don't appreciate people projecting their beliefs on me, so I will stop.

So here's to Lent. Eat drink and be merry....... But only water.
